Overall Situation: As of the end of 2009, global bulletproof glass production capacity was approximately 10 million square meters, mainly distributed in four regions. Europe accounted for 2.67 million square meters, or 26.7%, ranking first globally; Japan accounted for 22.1%, North America for 15.8%, and mainland China for 14.5%, ranking fourth globally; other countries and regions accounted for 20.9%.
Bulletproof glass originated in Europe and the United States. Chinese bulletproof glass companies have rapidly expanded their production capacity, now comparable to that of the United States and Germany. With the international bulletproof glass industry gradually shifting to China and the improvement of R&D and production capabilities of Chinese domestic companies, China will become one of the world's most important bulletproof glass production bases in the coming years.
Domestic Situation: According to statistics from relevant industry associations, as of 2009, China had 62 bulletproof glass manufacturers with 70 production lines and an annual production capacity of 1.45 million square meters. The capacity utilization rate in 2009 was 66.0%.
