The lifespan of bulletproof glass is not fixed and is affected by various factors, generally ranging from 10 to 30 years. Material quality is a key factor. Using high-quality glass substrate and a high-performance interlayer, such as polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film, with its stable molecular structure, strong anti-aging and UV resistance, better maintains its bulletproof performance and has a relatively longer lifespan. The usage environment also plays a significant role. Prolonged exposure to harsh environments such as high temperature, high humidity, and strong UV radiation accelerates the aging of the interlayer, leading to problems such as delamination and bubbles between the glass and the interlayer, shortening the lifespan of the bulletproof glass. For example, bulletproof glass used outdoors in tropical regions may have a shorter lifespan than that used indoors in temperate regions. Routine maintenance is also crucial. Regular cleaning and inspection, and timely treatment of scratches, cracks, and other damage to the glass surface, can extend its lifespan. If severely damaged by external impact, even if it has not reached its theoretical lifespan, it must be replaced promptly. Furthermore, with technological advancements, new bulletproof glass materials and processes are constantly emerging, which also affect its lifespan.
